What Is Shared Services Co-op Publishing?

Shared Services Co-op Publishing (SSCP): an affordable publishing option with assistance every step of the way!

New technology is causing the publishing industry to change every day, providing a daunting number of choices for an aspiring author. You’ve completed your writing, but it’s just the beginning. Publishing and promoting your book will take work, dedication and can be costly. Flying Turtle Publishing has designed a publishing model that offers authors an alternative to self-publishing without the high costs, increased responsibilities and uncertainty that can accompany the decision to go the non-traditional route.

To help you get your book from your hands to readers, we offer Shared Services Co-op Publishing. Whenever possible, Flying Turtle authors share the costs of publishing services with other authors who are publishing at the same time. For example, instead of a single author spending $150 for the required ISBN (the International Standard Book Number that uniquely identifies books and book-like products published internationally) authors in a cohort of four would pay less than $90 each.

Certain services, such as editing and cover design, are unique to each project and cannot be shared. Other services—proofreading, formatting and promotion—can be done by proofreading, interior design and marketing professionals who are willing to work with authors in this co-operative model.

Throughout this process, you are no more than 48 hours away from e-mail or phone contact with the coordinator for your cohort. This coordinator is your contact for every aspect of the publishing process and will apprise you of the status of your manuscript and respond to your questions and

concerns promptly.

The Flying Turtle SSCP Difference

Unlike a traditional publisher, with Flying Turtle you own 100% of the rights to your material. Although authors pay for publishing services, we do not share in any profit until the author has made back his or her original investment. Plus, our royalty payments are the exact opposite of a traditional publisher’s.

Traditional Royalty Payments:
Author         5-20%
Publisher     90-95%

Flying Turtle Royalty Payments:
Author         85%

Flying Turtle  15%
